چکیده

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) can be used as technology for coupling the physical and the virtual world in ubiquitous computing environments. In this paper, we show that RFID is also a very interesting option for building augmented real-world games. First, we describe several advantages of employing RFID technology for the development of gaming applications. Then we present the Smart Jigsaw Puzzle Assistant, a fully operational augmented jigsaw puzzle game which we have developed and prototypically implemented using miniature RFID tags and a palm-sized RFID scanner.

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...

A semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments

Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...

The 6th IEEE International Workshop on PervasivE Learning (PerEL 2010) continues a successful series started five years ago at IEEE PerCom. The workshop aims to address issues of pervasive computing in combination with new types of learning, teaching and working. Based on first results and practical experiences regarding tools and applications presented at previous PerEL workshops it focuses th...

Tangible Interfaces for Pervasive Gaming

With pervasive gaming, novel types of games have recently emerged. The idea is to apply pervasive computing technology which embeds computers in real-world, everyday environments to games. By bringing gaming back to natural, social interaction spaces, pervasive gaming aims to overcome some restrictions of conventional computer games: Players are no longer tied to computer screens and human-huma...

User Interfaces for Pervasive Games: Experiences of a Formative Multi-method Evaluation and Its Implications for System Development

This paper presents a formative multi-method evaluation on future gaming systems. Following a scenario-driven approach, quantitative and qualitative methods are employed to elicit feedback from different target user populations. Based on the results of the different evaluation parts, a set of design requirements for future home entertainment systems is derived. These requirements are then used ...
